This church is one of two Vision Churches in Port-de-Paix that came under our covering after Pastor Rosi’s dad passed away. He pastored for fifty years. A simple man. Dirt floors. No electricity. A lifetime of faithfulness. When he died, the churches he planted asked to come under Vision Church Haiti, and now the pastor here reports directly to Rosi. They pray together. They learn together. Rosi encourages him the same way his dad encouraged so many before him.
Both churches in Port-de-Paix are deep in the north. They’re far from the chaos of the capital, far from the gangs. Up there, the gangs aren’t active at all. The problem isn’t the churches—it’s getting to them. The roads between Port-au-Prince and the north are controlled so tightly that nobody can pass. You can’t pay your way through. You can’t negotiate. It’s simply shut down. If they don’t choose to open the road, no one moves. It’s that serious.
So these churches? They’re isolated. Cut off from the capital. But the people have always lived simple lives—gardens, small markets, cash in hand. No paychecks, no formal banking. Just trade, work, and whatever cash you can earn that day. It’s how life has been for generations.
Even in that simplicity, both churches stand strong. Mistiques has a better building than the other Port-au-Paix church, but the needs are similar. Benches. A generator. A basic sound setup. The essentials.
What stands out most is the story behind the people. These aren’t Christians who left one nice church for another. These are new believers—men and women who had no relationship with Jesus before walking into these churches. And when they do, it becomes more than a Sunday meeting. It becomes the community inside their community. A true family.
Pastor Rosi’s dad laid a foundation that outlived him. Rosi now honors that legacy by strengthening these churches and helping them grow under the Vision Church Haiti family. And even though they sit far away from the capital, cut off and hard to reach, God continues to move. People are coming to Christ. Disciples are being made. A radical church-planting movement is still spreading—one simple home, one simple church, one simple “Yes!” at a time.
