Vision Church Damier

Vision Church Damier is our second Vision Church plant in the Cabaret zone of Haiti. For years, this small church served about 30–50 people and met on land that Plen Fleri owns. It sits less than a mile from our main church in Cabaret and was a bright light of hope for families in the Damier community.

Right now, that light has been forced to go dark.

Church Closed By Gangs

Armed gangs have taken control of the Cabaret zone, making it too dangerous for people to gather for worship. Because of this, Vision Church Damier is not able to meet at this time. The building and land are still there, but the church cannot function safely. Many of the people who once attended have fled in different directions, trying to find any place that feels safer than home.

Some families are packed into small houses with relatives. Others have thrown together simple shelters from sticks, cloth, and scrap materials. Many are living exposed to the sun, wind, and rain, with little or no access to food, clean water, bathrooms, or basic healthcare. Pastor Rosi tells us that in parts of the capital and surrounding areas, there is a constant low sound of suffering—a “hum” of people crying, groaning, and calling out in their pain.

Faith Community Under Crisis – but Ready to Move Ahead

Even in this darkness, we believe God is not finished with Damier.

We already have a leader prepared and ready to serve when it is safe to return. When the gangs are pushed out and the area becomes stable again, our plan is to send a pastor from our main church to restart Vision Church Damier. It will feel like starting from zero, because many people from the community have been scattered. But we trust that God can gather His people again and rebuild His church in this place.

Until that day comes, we hold Damier in our prayers. We are asking God to protect the families who have been displaced, to bring peace to the region, and to open the door for worship, teaching, and community ministry to begin again on the land He has already provided.
