Vision Church Michele is way back in the mountains. You can only take a motorcycle part of the way because the road just gives up on you. After that, you’re hiking. And not a short stroll either—it’s an hour or two on foot, climbing deeper into the hills until you finally reach this little community tucked into the trees.
There’s nothing out there. No electricity. No running water. No clinics. No stores. No gang activity because honestly, there’s not much here for the gangs. There’s nothing to take and no reason to go. The people here live completely off the land, and they’ve done it their whole lives. Avocado trees. Mangoes. Coconuts. They know where to find water. They know how to survive. It’s simple, but it’s strong, and it works for them.
The church building is about as basic as you can picture. Thatch walls. A roof that kind of sags. Benches made from whatever wood somebody managed to haul up the trail. But when you get inside, it feels alive. These people show up ready to worship, ready to learn, ready to grow. The building may be weak, but the faith is not.
This church started because the pastor just couldn’t shake the feeling that God wanted him to do something in his community. He didn’t wait for perfect conditions. He didn’t wait for a building. He just started gathering with a couple of people under some sticks and palm leaves. And God breathed on it. It started growing.
When Pastor Rosinel got to know him, he said, “Hey, let’s walk together. Let’s build this thing with purpose.” And ever since then, we’ve been able to help with little bits here and there—some block for a wall, a little reinforcement so the wind doesn’t take it down, maybe a solar panel to give them just a crack of light at night. Small things, but they matter out here.
Every time we hike back into Michele, you feel it—this sense that God is doing something in the quiet places. Something steady. Something pure. There’s no noise, no distractions, no competition. Just people who love Jesus and want a place to gather and grow.
Vision Church Michele may be hidden in the hills, but it’s full of life. A simple church with a steady pastor, a tight-knit community, and the kind of faith that doesn’t need fancy to be strong.

Strengthen the Structure
Description:
The church walls are made from thin thatch and need reinforcement. Adding cement and block will help protect the building from wind, rain, and daily use. Strengthening the structure will give this remote mountain church a safer place to worship and grow.
